Rev. Stephanie Backus
Faithful Trinity family,
I have always found winter to be a season of deep reflection. As the snow settles over the Earth, It offers us a reminder that even the Earth must rest. This rest is vital to renewed growth in the spring. For pastors, January marks a time for rest, too, as Christmas ends and ordinary time begins. Not so this year though! The church is as busy as ever. I am learning more and more about all of the things our church does in the community. Through session and committee meetings, Thriving Congregations and spending more time with you, I am starting to get a clearer picture about how the Body of Christ is at work at Clarksburg Trinity Presbyterian Church There is a lot of really great stuff coming up in the life of our church. Lent is just around the corner. I would like to invite you to some Tuesday night services we will be doing at Shelocta Community Presbyterian Church. Taize is a service focused on contemplation. With refrains and scripture reading, we'll open a prayerful space at Shelocta on Tuesday nights. Before the service, we'll have a light dinner in the Fellowship Hall. The dinner is at 5 p.m. and Taize Service begins at 6 p.m. With the leadership of our Training Presbyter Angela Cowser, we will once again be doing an Easter Cantata. Practices and the Cantata will be at Shelocta as well. Practice begins Feb. 8 at 3 p.m. for those who can read music, with a 2 p.m. hour dedicated for people who want to learn how to read music. Winter may be long and its days short, but it won’t be long before we begin to see green sprouting from the ground again - sign of God’s goodness in creation!
Peace and warmth,
Pastor Stephanie Backus
